Molly Pease & David Bergstedt Recital at CSUF

I was honored and excited when renowned composer Pamela Madsen reached out to me to ask if I would be willing to premiere her new mono-drama/piano concerto/aria In America: Modjeska!, a 40-minute piece based on the life of Polish actress Helena Modjeska. This piece traverses lands, oceans, emotions, and characters, and incorporates the words of Shakespeare and multiple contemporary poets including Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Edna St. Vincent Millay, as well as Modjeska herself. The vocal lines also traverse every part of my range and multiple styles of singing, and the piano part is turbulent and impressive, expertly played by David Bergstedt. In addition to this work, I'll also be performing two pieces from my own Inner Astronomy, as well as movements from another Pamela Madsen opera, and exploring music by Pauline Oliveros with the CSUF New Music Ensemble.

CSUF is far for most LA folks but if you are interested in this concert, I'd love to see you there! Carpools are always a good option :) The concert will also be filmed and available to watch on the CSUF website.
